Tove Marika Jansson was born August 9, 1914 in Helsinki Signe Hammarsten ( 1882-1970 ) , an illustrator who designed many of the Finnish stamps, and Victor Jansson ( 1886-1958 ) , a sculptor . His mother also gave birth to Lars (1926-2000) and Per Olov ( - ? ) .

 

At the age of 16 years , Tove leave study at the Faculty of Art Stockholm where she stayed three years. It will return in 1933 in his hometown to attend courses at the School of the Art design company for four years. In 1938 , she will study at the Ecole Adrien Holy and the Ecole des Beaux Arts in Paris . It will benefit to travel to France , Italy and Germany.

 

Moomin troll is invented by his uncle to scare him when down in the refrigerator overnight. Moomin Valley was inspired by the resort where his parents rented a cabin there fishing every summer.

 

His first was Moomin trolls Small and large flood she wrote in 1939 but only appeared in 1945 .

 

The first edition of Moomin was in 1941 in the magazine Garm . In 1958, Moomin debuted in comics with the help of Lars 's brother Tove , who will take charge in 1961 , Tove preferring to devote himself to novels and painting. Lars BD continue until 1974 and will participate to the cartoons.

 

Moumine will also be adapted for the stage several times. In 1949 Svenska Teater will be played Comet in the valley of the Moomins and 1958 Lilla Teater , Trolli Kulisserna , which will tour in Sweden and Norway. Ikka Kuusisto will make an opera in 1974.

 

Tove Jansson confide in 1991 more than two thousand objects and illustrations related to the Moomin valley at Tampere Art Museum .
